Getting ready to leave CO

Welcome to the blog about Western State Colorado University Mountaineers traveling to Harlaxton College in England. I am Dr. Sally Hays and I have the pleasure of taking 4 Western State students to study at Harlaxton this May. We are all flying to England on May 9th. Before we leave Colorado I wanted to find out why each student wanted to go on this trip.
Katie: Planning on studying abroad but never found the time.
Carly: Great way to experience a study abroad that is cheaper and shorter time frame.
Josh: Will get back to me on this.
Jade: How businesses are different and similar to US business structure.
Myself: I spent my Junior year in college at Lancaster University in England and it changed my outlook on life.

We are partnering with Marian University in Indianapolis and will meet 6 more students and 3 more professors. The course is "Modern British Service Economy". From the syllabus:

The Modern British Service Economy class is an innovative course dealing with the British business community and strategic business concepts. The multidisciplinary course will compare and contrast the service economy as it exists in England with that of the United States as well as issues in history, political science, language, culture and religion.

Students will participate in British site visits to support the development of an understanding of the complexities of the operations of the service sectors in Britain as compared to that of the United States. Additionally, students will be exposed to the historical and cultural context of British service sector including education, tourism, health and sports.

The next blog will be from England about our travel days.
